Scope
The Transportation Master Plan Update Study is intended to meet the
goals and objectives of the Town’s vision for improving its
Transportation System as outlined in its
Strategic Plan 2001.
Addressing the objectives identified by the Strategic Plan is the focal
point for this Transportation Master Plan. The objectives are:
• Promote and pursue more pubic transit and other modes of
transportation;
• Expand walking trails, bikeways and inter-municipal trails;
• Commit to the continuation of high level of maintenance for the road
network; and,
• Develop the road network to improve flow and movement.
The recommendations of the Transportation Master Plan will also
influence the Strategic Plan’s economical and community objectives by:
• Enhancing and expanding our economic opportunities; and,
• Enhancing our healthy and safe community.
The study will recommend a sustainable, multi-modal Transportation
System for Richmond Hill that will satisfactorily accommodate future
population and employment growth to the year 2031. This study is being
carried out in accordance with the approved process for Phases 1 and 2
of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (June 2000).
