2010 Transportation Master Plan Update Town of Richmond Hill The Town of Richmond Hill (Town) Transportation Master Plan (TMP) Update 2010 is a step on the path to implement the transportation vision defined by the 2006 Richmond Hill TMP. This vision laid the foundation for well-functioning public transportation and a well-planned road network to attract residents and businesses to the community. The transportation system was also designed to provide a clean environment for Richmond Hill’s residents and to contribute to long-term environmental sustainability. The 2006 Richmond Hill TMP developed an integrated and balanced transportation system that incorporated all travel modes. The plan focused on enhancing transit accessibility for residents and workers in the Town, improving air quality, and supporting a healthy, active community. The Town continues to strongly support the vision outlined in the 2006 TMP. However, new planning initiatives such as the Provincial Places to Grow Act, transportation initiatives from Metrolinx and York Region and recent growth trends require a technical update to the TMP that builds closely on the vision and transportation alternatives recommended in the 2006 TMP. The 2010 TMP is a technical update of the 2006 TMP that takes the recommendations for implementing transportation investments, policies, and actions to the year 2031. The 2010 TMP is one of the key components of the Town of Richmond Hill Official Plan Update. The TMP study has thus been conducted in close coordination with the Town’s Official Plan update. The TMP will support the OP Guiding Principles by planning for transit and pedestrian oriented development and by promoting connectivity, mobility and accessibility within and between neighbourhoods, employment areas, parks and open spaces. The TMP will also support the goals of the Town’s Strategic Plan 2009
